Review: Airel by Chris White and Aaron Patterson

Kindle blurb: 'All Airel ever wanted was to be normal, to disappear into the crowd. Bit bloodlines can produce surprises, like an incredible ability to heal. Then there's Michael Alexander, the new guy in school, who is impossibly gorgeous... and captivated by her.' (No copyright infringement intended))

Sigh. This book was so terrible I couldn't even bother to write the whole blurb. I give this 2  stars.
I know, it's shocking, but it's thoroughly deserved, after thoroughly disappointing. Airel was one one of the least likeable characters in the book, and she was the protagonist! Maybe it's because I don't have a clue how to say her name, but, whatever it was, she just didn't click.
Unfortunately, just as I was starting to vaguely warm to her... We switched to a completely different story! This became a theme through a good third of the book, making it a real struggle to read -- and then I found that the second story wasn't even REALLY needed.
I have finally struggled to the end of this book, and it is such a shame. The writing was beautiful and epic without the cheesy feeling that similar books get, but the plot was badly structured and often easy to see through. The only thing that could put credit to the authors, other than the good writing, is the fact that two guys wrote a believable girl -- even if she wasn't particularly likeable.
In short, it wasn't much good... but it so easily could have been.
Angel out!
